Why you need to learn how to edit your website
In 2020 static websites are dead, marketing strategies are evolved, and consumers have become savvier about digital marketing. Now, websites need to offer more than a static page not often updated, especially the ones where actions are called for, such as e-commerce or soliciting donations websites.
Developing, improving or redesigning your website does not have to be a troublesome affair however, as with tech-advances, more accessible and easy to use softwares have been developed, that even the most tech-challenged people are able to use with ease.
In this day and age, it’s important to be able to act fast when it comes to digital marketing. There is no need to delay getting any marketing live thanks to modern software which is designed for fast implementation.
What’s a CMS and why choose WordPress for editing your website?
Many businesses look for an easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS) that makes editing your website easy. A CMS is a software used to create, manage and modify digital content. WordPress is the most widely known and used Content Management System with over 60% of the market share. A CMS allows you to edit the website and create contents, different pages, blog posts, articles – anything you wish to host.
WordPress alone will be very plain if the user doesn’t play with HTML, the language used to create webpages to generate different fonts, colours, graphics and design effects. However, if you’re not a developer, it is difficult to make an aesthetically pleasing website using HTML. Luckily, there is a solution.
Developers created ‘plugins’, namely software add-ons that are installed on a CMS to enhance its capacities and make it more user friendly, enabling anyone to be able to edit and customise a website fast and easy. By using plugins, designing and changing your web pages can be as easy and drag and drop, with no HTML knowledge needed.
Tip: when it comes to choosing a CMS, WordPress is the way to go as it allows for plenty of flexibility and customisation. Squarespace and Wix are only website builders, which are far more static. Thanks to Plugins it’s just as easy to make front end changes on WordPress with very easy to use and visual software.

Using plugins: websites editing made easy with Elementor
The benefits of using a plugin are plentiful, and one of the main advantages is the speed of which changes can be made. Since plugin software allows for easy editing, it’s simple to make changes to the content by dragging and dropping different elements, or editing current content.
We recommend using Elementor, one of the most trending plugins for website building and editing. It’s so popular that it has its own community on Facebook and more than 3 million installations worldwide.
Elementor is a drag and drop page builder plugin which makes designing and editing websites easy. The plugin is all front-end, so you can see the effects of your work immediately instead of having to play around with back-end code. You don’t need any HTML knowledge and can create impressive layouts without little design skills.
It works on all WordPress themes and you can use it to create any content or page layouts you can imagine, regardless of what your WordPress theme allows you to do. By using a plugin like Elementor, you’re able to create any kind of page and content by easily and quickly inserting elements.
Why the speed of websites matters
With a plugin, you can build and edit a new landing page for a campaign and get it live in a few hours. When it comes to speeding things up, using a plugin like Elementor is great as it’s quick to implement and build, as well as being quick to load.
The biggest website slow downs are caused by images: the more you have, the longer it takes for the site to load.
Another benefit of using WordPress is the speed of image downloads. When you import an image into WordPress, it automatically generates a different size of the image. Every time you put an image on a page, select the side of the image in both pixel and dimensions, and also the quality, with a higher quality for background imagery, and a lower quality for standard images, which allows the page to load faster.
How to A/B test: Fratelli Desideri Case Study
A/B testing is a method of comparing two variants of websites, emails, content, imagery or anything that can be ‘tested’ against one another.
Fratelli Desideri created an e-commerce site in the early days of their business. As they started to grow, they then tried to improve conversions. Mowgli tested the effects of implementing Elementor to see how it fared from a user experience point of view, and how well the software could improve e-commerce results.
It can take 2-3 months to design and build an entire website from scratch, and as Fratelli Desideri already had a base site and needed to improve conversations as fast as possible, we designed and created specific pages back end and tested them against the current pages that were already live and in place.
Instead of re-doing the entire website at once, which would have resulted in delayed improvement of conversions for weeks on end, we started by implementing Elementor on some pages, and compared them with normal pages. We used A/B testing of the “normal” vs new pages.
In this case, the plugin allowed for more freedom to edit everything visually, to change the position and layout of the product pages. The standard “normal” pages were far more strict in their design and usability, which did not result in the best results front end for the user.
With Fratelli Desideri, we were able to improve the conversion rate optimisation for the key pages, such as the products, shopping cart, checkout and landing pages for discounts and coupons. This was able to be implemented quickly without changing the whole design, instead by optimising it page by page.
Results: By re-doing the product pages one-by-one with very fast turnaround times, and optimising, testing and substituting results and measuring the effects of the changes, we managed to improve e-commerce conversions from 2-3 sales a week to 3-4 a day!
Tip: If you want to improve results fast, an entire website re-hall can be completed in steps. Sometimes it’s not necessary to have to re-do your entire website, use what you currently have, and change parts piece by piece, testing against what you already have in a fast and easy way.
Editing web pages, testing, and dynamic CTA’s
When a business starts out, websites and digital presence are usually the top priority. As the business grows, more usability is required, and testing can be included to improve user experience.
With plugins, there is unlimited potential of what can be created and possibility to test everything to improve results. To ensure the best possible outcomes, when it comes to any form of digital marketing, it’s necessary to be agile to change, to have a growth-mindset of evolution, and to analyse and improve results.
By using a plugin like Elementor you can edit and implement simple A/B testing such as changing layouts, calls to action (CTA), and even creating dynamic CTA’s.
Tip: A dynamic CTA connects advertisements, like Google or Facebook ads, and links them to the website, pulling through specific keywords and dynamically populating the page. Instead of creating multiple landing pages for various audiences, you can create one dynamic landing page where content such as images, wording, and case studies are automatically populated from the source it’s coming from. By using the same language and imagery from advertising, conversion rates generally improve. Fancy!
Case study: Mowgli worked with GMV Group Medical innovation to set up dynamic web pages, providing the company with specific landing pages for a specific target audiences that are connected to digital advertisements. To discover more, read the full-length case study.
